10 Tips to become a top ranker in CLAT

We at Maansarovar have trained over 10,000 students till date and believe in a very realistic approach towards becoming a top ranker in the Clat examination. Below we shared exactly what you need to do to get into your dream law college.

There are 5 sections that are asked in the CLAT exam -

1. Legal Reasoning

2. General Awareness

3. English Comprehension

4. Logical Reasoning

5. Quantitative Aptitude

These are ten things that you must do -

1. Read Newspaper everyday - You must know that newspaper is the most important source for the class exam. Four of the sections i.e., legal reasoning, general awareness, english comprehension and logical reasoning are directly asked from the newspaper. Also, it is known that completing Clat exam timely is an uphill battle and reading newspaper every day increases us increase our speed tremendously. Therefore you day must begin with newspaper in hand.

Approach at Maansarovar - We at Maansarovar split current affairs into three parts I.e., General current Affairs, political current affairs and legal current affairs and each of this is handled by different teachers. Even though we provide very exhaustive data and classes for general affairs yet we make sure that Students read newspaper on regular basis. That is why that has been mentioned on top in the schedule book due to which students feel some level of accountability.

2. Practice previous year papers - Practising previous year clat papers will give you about an idea of the exam and will make you aware as to what you are preparing for and what you should expect from your exam paper. You will also realise that Clat is an extremely lengthy exam and along with in-depth knowledge, speed is also an area to be worked upon during your preparation.

Approach at Maansarovar - we have uploaded all the previous year Clat papers on our website along with answer keys. You can always visit our website and download the same. Previous year papers are always discussed in classes and questions on similar pattern are incorporated in mock tests conducted by us.

3. Solve at least 25 mock test - are as important as the class itself. Solving marks is an essential thing and we believe that once we solve a mock, then we realise our we areas and strong areas. So mark are very important for time management also.

Approach at Maansarovar- At Maansarovar you will be required to take 1 mock test every week and will increase to 2 mock tests per week 2 months before the exam. Mocks are followed by video analysis of the mock to clear all the doubts from the same and we encourage students to retake the mock after analysis so that this time they score 100% in the given mock. This will increase their question bank and als boost their confidence.

4. Be Regular with classes - Classes are the most important part of your preparation and under no circumstances should they be missed. We at Maansarovar believe that consistency is the key to selection and encourage students to be very regular with them.

Approach at Maansarovar - We realise the importance of classes that not a single one should get missed by the students therefore we provide the students with hybrid mode. Hybrid mode allows students to attend classes in both offline as well as online mode. If none is attended by the student then they view the lecture in recorded mode. This way they do not miss a single lecture and their preparation remains smooth.

5. Make a schedule before studying- If you study without a plan then you keep switching between the subjects and topics and by the end of the day little is achieved However if you write your schedule in advance and stick to it then a lot is achieved and it also instills a sense of satisfaction in us.

Approach at Maansarovar - Planning is the most important part of competitive exam journey and we at Maansarovar believe that only after proper planning, one must begin their day. For this we provide students with a journal which they must fill during beginning of the day and must follow it throughly. This leads to accountability and gives a clear plan to work upon.

6. Never Refer to more than 2-3 sources - Sometimes too much motivation leads us to do certain activities which are detrimental to our preparation such as studying from various sources. Studying from various and unverified sources leads to anxiety and loss of confidence and this should be avoided at all costs.

Approach at Maansarovar - we at Maansarovar provide extensively researched , verified and exhaustive study material to our students that they don’t need to refer to any source apart from the material provided by us.

7. Work more on your weak areas and scoring subjects - Working on strong areas will not be as useful as working on weak areas. Working on weak areas will increase your score tremendously and make your preparation holistic. Same is how we approach subjects too. Working on scoring areas like maths, law and reasoning is more rewarding than working on General awareness.

Approach at Maansarovar - We give personal attention to stude and their needs and evaluate your strong and weak areas as per your score in mock tests. Accordingly the feedback is given from our end to you and you are encouraged to work on your weak areas. Also We always begin teaching the most important topics first and subsequently go towards lesser important topics. Importance of a topic means its weightage in the exam.

8. Do post mock analysis - Doing post mock analysis is as important as taking mock tests itself. You must realise that your score in mock tests will increase only if you work on your errors in the mock tests. Doing post mock analysis for 20 mocks will increase your score tremendously.

Approach at Maansarovar - We at Maansarovar provide video analysis of the mock tests and encourage students to work on their errors after that. After working on their errors, we encourage them to retake the mock and expect to score 100% in that particular mock test now. This is an extremely useful exercise as it greatly increases our question bank and students can see immense improvement in their subsequent scores.

9. Always aim for Rank-1 - you must know that you get what you strive for. If it’s mere selection then you will just get selected and if it’s Rank then you will bag a good rank. When you are willing to work hard and give it your heart and soul then you must work for a rank instead of just selection. This is a chance to make yourself proud and go for it with full swing.

Approach at Maansarovar - We create a very enthusiastic atmosphere at Maansarovar and constantly encourage students to work towards incredible results. We never settle for anything but excellence and Instill students with motivation and inspiration on regular basis. Small little tips are imparted on regular basis in classes and during personal sessions and students are encouraged to work fr a single digit rank always.

10. Maintain separate subjects wise registers for difficult questions - Everytime you come across question that you either aren’t able to solve or find difficult then note it down in the respective subject wise register along with the solution. This way by the time the exam is approaching, you will have created a unique question bank for yourself all at one place and it will be very convenient to revise from it instead of hunting difficult questions from different places.

Approach at Maansarovar - we keep regular doubt sessions and mock analysis so that students find the detailed solutions for any questions that they find difficult and encourage them to maintain those registers. We also encourage students to ask doubts from the teachers anytime during the day since we have all in-house teachers who are always available at the maansarovar office.

At the end we would like to reiterate that having trained students for CLAT for more than a decade, we know exactly what is required to be done in order to clear the exam with flying colours and hope that you will make most of our experience!

Wish you best of luck and together let’s start your success story! Team Maansarovar!
