Another Chance for Delhi Voters SIR Deadline Extended

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has further extended the timeline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Delhi.

● Claims & Objections: Extended up to 30 October 2026

● Disposal of Notices, Claims & Objections: Extended up to 30 November 2026

● Final Electoral Roll: Now scheduled to be published on 4 December 2026.

A significant change is that voters who receive SIR notices, particularly in unmapped or logical-discrepancy cases, may not have to visit an office for the process. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit voters at their homes, collect the required documents and facilitate their uploading through the ECINET system. The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) will take the final decision on the matter.

If a hearing is required, voters will not be required to visit the office in person. The hearing will be conducted online, and necessary facilities will be provided to facilitate the process. The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) will take the final decision on the matter.

Why was the deadline extended?

The extension was made following a request from the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi, with officials citing issues such as the workload on BLOs, processing/server-related difficulties and the need to provide voters additional time to complete the process.
