1. Ms. Draupadi Murmu, former governor of Jharkhand will be the NDA nominee for 15th Presidential Election. She is a tribal leader who hails from Odisha. If elected, she would be the first tribal and 2nd woman President of India.

Former BJP leader Yashwant Sinha, currently with the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is the consensus candidate of 17 opposition parties.

2. Ms. Ruchira Kamboj will replace Mr. T.S. Trimurthy as India’s Permanent Representative (Ambassador) to UNO. She is a senior Diplomat, an officer of Indian Foreign Service.

3. 14th BRICS Summit will be hosted by China in a virtual mode on 23-24 June, 2022. PM Narendra Modi will attend the Summit. BRICS is a multi-lateral forum consisting of 5 major emerging economies namely, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

BRICS has become a platform for discussing and deliberating on issues of common concern for all developing countries. BRICS countries have regularly called for reform of the multi-lateral system in order to make it more representative and inclusive. Discussions during the 14th BRICS Summit are expected to cover co-operation in areas such as counter terrorism, trade, health, traditional medicine, environment, agriculture, technical and vocational education & training MSMEs.
