UPSC has released the Delhi Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) Recruitment 2026 notification for the total 140 vacancies. The application process started from 12th September 2026 and the last date to apply is 2 October 2026.
The post of Assistant Public Prosecutor is under the Directorate of Prosecution, Government of NCT of Delhi.

Eligibility -
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognised university and must fulfil the prescribed professional experience requirement. Candidates are also required to be enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council.
The recruitment requires three years of practice as an Advocate in criminal law matters, as prescribed in the eligibility conditions. Therefore, fresh law graduates who do not have the required practice experience should not apply for this recruitment.
Delhi APP Exam Pattern 2026 -
The Delhi APP Exam pattern consists of two main stages i.e. an objective type Written Examination and a Personal Interview. The duration of the written examination will be of 2 hours in English language only with ⅓ negative marking deducted for every incorrect answer.
Delhi APP Syllabus 2026 -
The syllabus is mainly focused on important legal subjects, particularly criminal law and laws connected with investigation, corruption and economic offences.

● Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023
● Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023
● Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), 2023
● Information Technology Act, 2000
● Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988
● Companies Act, 2013
● Central Vigilance Commission Act
● Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002
● Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946
Candidates should give special attention to BNS, BNSS and BSA, as these form the core of criminal law, procedure and evidence preparation.
How to Prepare?
One should start their preparation with the Bare Acts and understand the important provisions from the particular subject instead of just memorising section numbers. After you complete your particular topic, solve MCQs and revise the questions you get wrong.
As the paper is in English language only and has ⅓ rd negartive marking, candidates should practise solving questions within the prescribed two hour time limit because accuracy should be given priority over blind attemots.
